Introduction

Ricky Schroder, now known as Rick Schroder, is a talented American actor and film director. With a net worth of $25 million, he has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Schroder gained prominence as a child actor in the hit sitcom “Silver Spoons” and went on to have memorable roles in projects like “Lonesome Dove” and “NYPD Blue.” Besides his successful acting career, Schroder has also made significant investments in real estate, further contributing to his impressive wealth.

Early Life and Career

Rick Schroder, formerly known as Ricky Schroder, was born on April 13, 1970, in Brooklyn and raised on Staten Island, New York City. He is the son of Diane Katherine Bartlett and Richard John Schroder, both former AT&T employees. At a young age, Schroder began his journey in the entertainment industry, appearing in numerous catalogs and commercials. His breakthrough came in 1979 when he played the son of Jon Voight’s character in the film remake of “The Champ.” This role earned him the Golden Globe Award for Best New Male Star of the Year in a Motion Picture at the age of nine.

After his early success, Schroder’s parents made the decision to focus on his career, and he was removed from school in the third grade. He relocated to Los Angeles with his mother, while his father continued working for AT&T in New York City. Schroder’s acting career continued to flourish, and he starred in notable films like “The Last Flight of Noah’s Ark” and “Little Lord Fauntleroy” alongside Alec Guinness. However, it was his role as Ricky Stratton in the television series “Silver Spoons” from 1982 to 1986 that solidified his status as a rising star. He received two Young Artist Awards for his performance in the show.

Breakthrough and Later Career

Transitioning from child actor to adult roles posed a challenge for Schroder, who dropped the “Y” from his first name in an effort to be taken more seriously. His co-starring role in the Western miniseries “Lonesome Dove” and its sequel, “Return to Lonesome Dove,” helped him establish himself as a mature actor. Schroder’s career continued to flourish with roles in projects like “NYPD Blue,” “Scrubs,” “Strong Medicine,” and the 2007 season of “24.” He successfully proved his versatility and talent in a variety of genres.

In addition to his acting career, Schroder ventured into directing. In 2004, he directed and starred in the music video for Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss’s song “Whiskey Lullaby.” The video earned him the Best Music Video award at the 2005 Nashville Film Festival. Schroder’s directorial skills were further recognized at the CMT Music Awards, where the video won Collaborative Video of the Year, and he was honored as Director of the Year.

Schroder’s passion for filmmaking led him to produce various projects through his production company, Ricky Schroder Productions. Notable works include the series “Starting Strong” and war documentaries such as “The Fighting Season,” “My Fighting Season,” and “The Volunteers.” He spent several months in close quarters with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan to capture raw footage for these projects.

Personal Life and Real Estate Ventures

Schroder married interior designer Andrea Bernard in 1992, and they have four children together. However, in 2016, the couple announced their decision to divorce. Throughout their 25+ years of marriage, Schroder and Bernard engaged in impressive real estate endeavors. They flipped multiple high-end estates, showcasing their keen eye for investments and design.

In the early 1990s, the couple purchased a 15,000-acre plot of land near Grand Junction, Colorado, which they named Mesa Mood Ranch. They custom-built a remarkable horse estate, complete with a 2,500 square-foot log cabin and several guest houses. After listing the property for $29 million in 2005, they sold it for $27 million in April 2006.

Their real estate ventures extended beyond Colorado. They sold a home in Scottsdale, Arizona, for $4 million in 2006, along with various other properties in the area. In 2005, they purchased a 30-acre ranch estate in Topanga, California, for $4.2 million, ultimately selling it for $9.3 million in March 2019. Additionally, they acquired an oceanfront home in Malibu, California, in 2007 for $5.85 million. Following their separation, they listed the property for rent at $30,000 per month before selling it for $5.185 million in July 2020.

Conclusion

Ricky Schroder, now known as Rick Schroder, has achieved remarkable success in the entertainment industry and as a real estate investor. With a net worth of $25 million, he has solidified his position as a respected actor and director. From his early days as a child actor to his notable roles in both film and television, Schroder has continually showcased his talent and versatility. Furthermore, his real estate ventures have contributed to his wealth and served as a testament to his business acumen. As his career continues to evolve, fans eagerly anticipate Schroder’s future projects and endeavors.
