Jim Nantz’s given name is James William Nantz III. During the 1980s, he worked on telecasts of the National Football League (NFL), NCAA Division I men’s basketball, the NBA, and the PGA Tour for CBS Sports. James William Nantz III was born on May 17, 1959. Since 1989, he has served as the host of CBS’ coverage of the Master’s Tournament. Also, he has served as the network’s principal play-by-play commentator for the NFL since 2004.

Surely, the legendary journalist and former IMG vice president of sports management, Jim Nantz, has an interesting biography, but today’s post is not about him. We shall be discussing one of his three children named Jameson Nantz. Keep scrolling to the bottom of this page if Jameson Nantz’s biography sounds like what might interest you.

Does Jameson Nantz Have Siblings?

Nantz is the second child of his parents, born in 2016. His parents, Jim and Courtney, married on June 9, 2012, and have an older daughter Finley Cathleen Nantz born in 2014.  Furthermore, Jim Nantz has a child from his 26 years of marriage to Ann-Lorraine “Lorrie” Carlsen Nantz. Her name is Caroline.

Jameson Nantz’s Childhood and Education

Jameson’s parents are very protective of him. They have kept his personal affairs off the media. Nonetheless, let’s talk about his father’s early life and education.

Jim Nantz was raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Colts Neck Township, New Jersey, and Marlboro Township, New Jersey, where he attended Marlboro High School. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Nantz co-captained the basketball team in high school and also served as the team’s top golfer and co-captain. The Bamm Hollow Country Club was one of his clubs.

After that, Nantz enrolled at the University of Houston, where he participated in the men’s golf team while sharing a dorm with future pros Blaine McCallister and Fred Couples.

In 1981, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in radio and television broadcasting. Nantz gained his first exposure in sports reporting around this time with the CBS Radio Network, sending Win Elliot taped interviews for the latter’s Sports Central USA weekend reports.

Jim Nantz’s Book, Always By My Side – A Father’s Grace and a Sports Journey Unlike Any Other

Nantz’s debut book Always By My Side – A Father’s Grace and a Sports Adventure Unlike Any Other was published in May 2008. Nantz shares personal anecdotes about his experiences playing football, basketball, and golf as well as how he has met people who have served as a reminder of the values his father established in him. Former President George H. W. Bush, a mentor to him, a close friend, and a regular golf partner, wrote the foreword to the book.

After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and receiving treatment at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas, Jim Nantz Jr., Jim Nantz’s father passed in 2008. The Nantz National Alzheimer Center was established in Houston, Texas, in January 2011 by Nantz and The Methodist Hospital. With the expansion of research and the examination of the disease’s causes, including the significance of concussions and other prior brain trauma, the Center aims to enhance care and treatment for people with Alzheimer’s disease.
