Omari Hardwick is an American actor, poet, and rapper who rose to fame for his role as James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the crime drama series Power. Early Life and Education

Omari Latif Hardwick was born on January 9, 1974, in Savannah, Georgia, to Clifford Hardwick III and Joyce Hardwick. He spent most of his childhood in Decatur, Georgia, and showed an interest in writing poetry at a young age. He went to Marist School in Atlanta, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He helped lead his high school football team to a State Championship title.

Omari Hardwick played football at the Furman Purple Paladins for a year before transferring to the University of Georgia, where he continued to play football as a defensive back. However, he had to give up his dreams of playing professional football after suffering an injury during his stint with the San Diego Chargers. He then decided to pursue his passion for acting and moved to New York and then to Los Angeles to attend acting classes.

Career

Omari Hardwick’s acting career started as an extra on sitcoms like Friends and In the House. He made his movie debut in the 2001 film Circles and later landed a role in the TV movie Sucker Free City. He has since appeared in several movies such as Beauty Shop, Gridiron Gang, The Guardian, Miracle at St. Anna, and CSI: Miami.

In 2009, he starred in the series Dark Blue as Ty Curtis, which earned him a NAMIC Vision Award nomination. He also appeared in Being Mary Jane as Andrew Daniels, which won him a Black Reel Award for Outstanding Actor, TV Movie, or Mini-Series.

Omari Hardwick’s breakthrough role came in 2014 when he was cast as James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the Starz crime drama series Power. The show’s success brought him numerous award nominations, including the Vision Award for Best Performance – Drama in 2016 and the Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series in 2018 and 2019.

Achievements

Omari Hardwick’s poetic skills have earned him recognition as a skilled poet. He has written over 4,000 poems and has competed in the US National Poetry Slam Competition. He finished in the top five in 2003 and 2004.

Omari Hardwick has co-founded several theatrical groups, including Actor’s Lounge and Plan B Inc. Theatre Group. He also owns Brave Life Films, a production company.

Personal Life

Omari Hardwick has been married to Jennifer Pfautch since 2012, and they have two children together. Pfautch is a graduate of California Lutheran University and has worked as a creative executive at Deacon Entertainment and publicist at Paradigm Talent Agency and D’Orazio & Associates. She is currently working as a Senior Vice President Development at Brave Life LLC, her husband’s production company.
