Living in a small space, such as a studio apartment or condo, makes you feel restricted and limited. Smaller living spaces can quickly look cluttered, even with minimal furniture and décor.

However, not all hope is lost! With some strategic thinking, you can style your small apartment perfectly while saving as much space as possible. Better yet, you don’t need to be an expert interior designer or stylist to do so.

Below, we’ve got some top tips to save space in your small apartment without compromising on comfort or style, whether you own your property or have a rental home.

  1. Choose a Sleeper Sofa

Beds and sofas take up huge amounts of space in the home, and when you’re dealing with a very small living area, it can feel like they look too bulky or are in the way. This is where choosing a sleeper sofa, futon, or pull-out sofa bed is going to come in handy.

With a sleeper sofa, you can save space during the day by tucking the bed component away. When evening comes, and you’re ready to settle into bed, all you need to do is pull out the sleeper, and you’re good to go.

Combining your living room and bedroom with a sleeper sofa or futon is ideal for studio apartments and creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel truly relaxed.

  1. Use Wall-Mounted Storage

Storage boxes and standing rails can take up a lot of space in a small apartment, but where else are you supposed to keep your belongings and clothes? Well, there’s a helpful space-saving solution to consider.

Wall-mounted storage enables you to save floor space while still keeping your living area clean and tidy. You can install racks, rails, or shelves along the walls in your kitchen to store pots, in your bedroom to keep clothes or accessories, or in your living room to display family photos.

  1. Choose Tall Shelving Units

Sideboards and cabinets usually only contain one cupboard and a couple of drawers, which isn’t always the best use of the space. Choosing taller storage units that extend vertically instead of horizontally saves floor space and tidies up your apartment.

You can go for open shelving units that enable you to display photos, books, and ornaments to enhance your interior design. Alternatively, there are closed units that keep your belongings out of sight and well protected.

  1. Make the Most of Every Gap

Even the tiniest gaps can make great storage spaces for smaller items. Think about the space above your wardrobe, under your bed, or down the sides of furniture, all of which are potential storage areas for your belongings.

Filling every gap enables you to maximize every inch of your apartment and keep it as tidy as possible. You can purchase small storage boxes or bags if you want to hide things more subtly and keep your interior design looking sleek.
